Multimedia player / streaming device / smart TV for newbies?

My brother and his girlfriend are immersed in the multimedia world.

Two active speakers have just been purchased for the TV.

They are both NOT technology-savvy, so operation should be as simple and straightforward as possible.

(If possible, not operated via smartphone)

Now it is a matter of playing web content as uncomplicated as possible.

Since I have no overview of the functions of the individual providers, I need your advice.

Must have:

- Internet radio

- Youtube

- ARTE, ORF TV-Thek (Österreichischer Rund Funk), ServusTV

- Streaming the screen content of the notebook, smartphone (mirror)

The Panasonic TV has a few smart apps but not all that are desired (ORF, Servus TV, streaming from PC is missing)

Chromecast, Apple TV, FireTV, etc? What is the best and where are the main differences?

Ho

I have been using the Amazon FireTV stick for a long time and I'm really satisfied with it.

It works very well and is super easy to use.

I can only recommend this.

Ly

Can you only operate the device by remote control?

Ho

It can be operated with the remote control and via voice control (Alexa).

The FireTV stick has an Alexa integrated, but also works with a "stationary" Alexa.

Ly

Thanks, can you completely disable Alexa? I wouldn't want my TV to eavesdrop on me.

Ho

It is included with the FireTV stick in that it can be activated using a button on the remote control. You would have to hold it down. Otherwise Alexa is inactive.
