Can you use an HP wireless mouse with an Asus notebook?

I often saw that HP mice are only suitable for HP devices. However, I read something else everywhere. I'm now unsure whether the mouse (HP Z3700 wireless mouse) is recognized / works by an asus laptop or not. Actually, the brand of the mouse is often irrelevant or can be used with all sorts, but there are probably exceptions.

If such a small USB stick is included, it works on any device.
