Hopefully someone can help here.
I got a laptop from a friend to make it a little faster because I still have an SSD left.
I installed the SSD, set the boot order in the BIOS and tried to install Windows from a USB 3 stick. Since this didn't work, I tried a bootable Windows DVD. Even without success. Every time the error message "reboot and select proper boot device" comes up.
Now I installed the SSD on my other laptop and did exactly the same, and was able to install Windows on it via DVD. Then I wanted to put it back into the laptop in question and see if it worked. Even without success. Still the same error message. The other laptop ran without any problems. It also works with the built-in HDD.
I don't have many setting options in the bios. I set IDE to IDE -> AHCI. There's only that and IDE to choose from. Neither was successful. The SSD is also recognized in the BIOS, so it is not.
Hopefully someone can help here, I'm finished with my doing.
If it's an older laptop, try a USB 2.0 stick on a USB 2.0 port.
Unfortunately not available. That's why I tried it as a bootable DVD. It didn't work either. Only in the other laptop did the DVD work. That's why I ruled that out.
Which Windows version is it about?
To get Windows 10 Home 64bit. But I don't even get to boot, neither from CD nor from USB. With the HDD this works without any problems. The ssd is not broken as it goes in the other laptop
