The following problem: I don't get 120hz or 144hz on my external screen that is connected via HDMI.

Already tried the following:

-NVIDIA and display settings tried to adjust (only 60hz possible)

-HDMI 2.0b cable connected

-Laptop set to performance mode

-Windows updates and Graka drivers up to date (WIN 10 Pro)

Is it possible to use a DP adapter?

The problem is: HDMI. HDMI does not support these high Hertz numbers. You absolutely need a display port cable.

From where I know this? Through an Instapost and I have a 165 Hertz monitor myself which I use with DP.

Before that, you can still try it through the Windows settings.

System -> Display -> Advanced Display Settings -> Refresh Rate.

DP adapter will not work. Even if HDMI 2.0 theoretically supports 144hz, you not only have to have the cable, but also a corresponding connection must exist on both the Lappi and the monitor.

Follow up if I had to guess. The laptop will then only have HDMI 1.0. 1.4 would be the mentioned 120hz

According to the manufacturer, the laptop (see link in my main question) has a 1.4 HDMI connection.
I even set the graphics mode to performance in the Armory Crate and linked it directly to the graphics card, so that the PC would never use the internal GPU.

However, you need an activated HDMI port at both ends, which you usually do not have with laptops.

I buy the links 100% because I myself have already witnessed their functionality on 144hz Full HD. However, it does not transmit the rate even though my laptop has a 1.4 HDMI output…

144 Hz is not, but 120 Hz is feasible.

Even if the 144 Hz is possible from HDMI 1.4, not every monitor (especially older ones) supports it.

Fact! It only supports 60hz on this resolution. The blanket specification of the HDMI 1.4 connection, which should theoretically "support" 120hz, is therefore void. The instruction manual was a good approach. Thank you for the effort and help.

Yes, there are no general specifications other than the maximum possibilities of the HDMI variants, which you can see in the links.

Manufacturers like to save costs, which is why most 144 monitors only supported 60/120 Hz before 2017 because the parameters of the HDMI protocol had to be specially adapted.

Since 2017 this has become more of a standard procedure, which is why you will find significantly more 144 Hz monitors with support via HDMI here.

That's why you shouldn't buy an outdated monitor of this type today, but rather a current one. They are generally cheaper anyway and better positioned in most aspects.

To be on the safe side, in case of doubt, you should always check the manufacturer's website and operating instructions online for the exact specifications.

Your Lappi, according to Link, even has a 2070Super and then also with the correct hdmi2.0b connection. So with your new monitor you can go up to 4k @ 60hz. Alternatively, 260hz with FullHD would also be possible.
