I want to assemble a new PC. Meanwhile, I use a laptop as a computer. I want to install the HDD from my laptop into my PC. Is that possible? My current HDD is a Toshiba MQ01ABD100 with 1000GB. However, it is 2.5 inches tall and is 3 gb / s fast. If I put them on my motherboard, would it work?
Mainboard: Asus TUF B450-Pro Gaming
Housing: be quiet! Pure Base 600 black, glass window
I would have thought that I would install this HDD in my PC, then click on Device Manager on changed hardware, install the new drivers from my PC and copy or move the operating system to the HDD. Would that work?
The 2.5 "HDD needs an extra case.

And no. Everything should be reinstalled.
That can work. But should not be done.
With such large hardware changes, the operating system wants to be reinstalled. Respectively. Should.
You should also consider using an SSD instead of an HDD.
There's no need for a "housing box"
Duck against any opinions, an HDD can just lie around like this. An SSD even more so.
I agree with the SSD. But the HDD should be in an extra case.
