How much RAM is good for a notebook for the Fernuni?

I have a question for the technology orphans.

I would like to start a distance learning and I need a good, powerful notbeook because all the tutorials and the exams are written online and my question now relates to the size of the RAM, is 8 GB RAM enough or should I prefer a 16 GB notebook Add RAM: / and what are other important aspects that I have to pay attention to?

Everything from 2GB is fine. "Powerful" and "writing online" are terms that have nothing to do with each other.

I have a surface for university, on which you can also take notes on the script during the lecture. Now in Corona I share the screen with my exercise group and can then handwrite the exercise sheet directly on the tablet so that they can see it. I always find pen input very practical. But I don't know how much that is of use in a remote university.

Va

8GB should be enough.

Va

With 2GB in Windows 10. I would like to see that.

Da

That actually works, but then you have absolute performance problems and believe me, you don't want such problems ^^

li

I have one in one and it works fine with no performance problems. Even play Skyrim or Civilization with it sometimes while traveling.

Va

Never in life. Maybe civ 1, but not guaranteed skyrim. So not with more than 10fps.

Da

8GB is currently Office Standard and if you want a fast system, then it should be 8GB RAM / memory. It is best to have an SSD instead of an HDD, because then nothing can go wrong ^^

Da

So with Low Perfomance Mods it will work with Skyrim, but then everything looks a bit graphically… Stressful ^^ Then still depends on your VRam and on your CPU, but they can't be too good if you apparently have a 2GB laptop Ram did. Something doesn't fit together and you will definitely have performance problems, since Windows of course also needs RAM in the background. Unfortunately, I'm not at home to take a look at the whole thing, but do the math yourself.

Skyrim needs at least 2GB Ram and Windows 10, the 32 bit version, even needs up to 1GB Ram - so without Low Performance Mods for Skyrim - although I'm not sure whether the mod also screws on the Ram requirement, it will be difficult 60 FPS to get there.

Da

So stressful that you can't edit your answer forever. In any case, here's another edit:

8GB Ram are Office Standard / will hopefully be Office Standard everywhere.

However, if you also want to use your laptop for gaming, 8 GB is still sufficient at the moment, but most games will now be in the direction of 16GB. But since you write that you only want to use it for university, 8GB will definitely be enough. You should keep your hands off of 4GB Ram, because that is a thing of the past and with 8GB you are definitely on the safe side when it comes to multitasking ^^

May I find out how much you would spend or what price would be appropriate for you?

Tr

A maximum of 1,000 euro budget unfortunately only: / and it should really work for work and remote university and I need performance so that the transmission of the presentation over the Internet works well

Da

So if it should really only be for the university or so that you can display broadcasts, then 1000 euro is too much. A laptop in the 500-600 euro price range should be sufficient. However, if you still want to use the laptop for gaming, then 1000 euro would not be bad.
