So I put on my laptop Win 7 new and wanted to save it with Clonezilla an image on my external hard drive. Now my external hard drive has been completely reformatted and all the stuff is gone.
Can I undo this somehow or helps because only Recuva, because I do not necessarily rely on Recuva and after the hard drive was formatted because I have nothing stored on it or something, it is anyway recognized by Windows but not displayed.
Maybe someone with expertise can help me please, I'm desperate and do not want to lose important stuff.

When formatting a hard disk, it is irretrievable. It will be overwritten. If he had deleted the data so that would not be a big problem, but formatting is something else!

What you mean is "high-level format". This is only possible with extra tools. There, the hard disk is repeatedly written with I and 0 and thus all data deleted forever.

The Backup & Recovery tool works great. And then you should also create a working boot disk (CD / DVD, or USB stick / …).
