Laptop connected to router via LAN, but old device name is displayed?

After I moved and bought a new router (Speedport Smart 3) for the new apartment and had some problems with the internet, I tried to do a LAN test. But as soon as I connect my laptop to the router via a LAN cable, it automatically logs into the Internet, but the name is that of the router in my old apartment… (Fritzbox 7590)

Somehow I can't figure it out and I can't find anything about it on the Internet… Does anyone have any idea why this could be? Or should I just ignore that and do the Lan test anyway?

The device name is based on the MAC address of the device, which is why the type of connection is irrelevant.

I'm not sure if I'm getting this wrong, but by device name I mean the name of the Internet that is displayed on the LAN connection. It basically tells me I'm connected to the Fritzbox 7590 although I'm connected to the Speedport Smart 3 via LAN…

Sy

Oh, then I misunderstood your question.

YOU have to be able to see whether you are on the FritzBox surface or on the surface of the Speedport.
What do you enter?
Fritz.box
or
http://speedport.ip/

Di

Speedport.ip

Gr

Then you are on the speed haven

Di

Yes, yes, but why does it still show me the old router (Fritzbox 7590) as the Internet when I connect my laptop to the speed port via the LAN cable?

Gr

Is your connection just called that? You can name them what you want. Whatever "as Internet" is supposed to mean.

If you click on the Internet symbol in the task bar at the bottom right of the desktop, all available networks are displayed with their respective names. By default something WLAN - "any number combination"… In my old apartment the network with which I logged into the WLAN at home was called "Fritzbox 7590"… But I also had the appropriate router. Now - we have moved - we have a different router and the network with which I now log into the WLAN is also called something with WLAN-XXXX… I renamed it to recognize it faster, but not to "Fritzbox 7590"… Power yes also no sense, since the current router is a Speedport Smart 3.

My PC shows Connected to "Network 28" via Powerline e.g. But my laptop shows "Fritzbox 7590" as the network name as soon as I plug in the LAN cable from the router (Speedport Smart 3) … My mobile phone shows the network name as normal, which I changed under speedport.ip.

YOU can delete the connection. Then it should show "new network connection" and you can change it as you like.
