Can I connect to the WLAN with a WLAN USB stick even though the WLAN chip is broken?

The following problem, the WLAN chip on my laptop is probably broken because it is no longer displayed. But I'm not in the mood to send my laptop back for repairs so that I can wait 3 weeks for it again, especially now that I'm on vacation. Can I simply connect my laptop to the WLAN with a WLAN stick even though the chip in the laptop is "defective"?

You can do this with a WLAN stick. Your internal chip has nothing to do with it.

Possibly just had to reinstall the driver

It's not working. The driver is not shown to me in the device manager that I can update or reinstall it. Are WLAN sticks generally stable? So now comparable with the normal WLAN of the laptop? Or significantly worse or slower?

Sh

Yes. You could.

After all, that's exactly what these things are for.

Alternatively, instead of sending the device in and waiting 3 weeks for it to be repaired, you could take a quick look at the operating instructions and try to find out which key combination can be used to deactivate flight mode.

It's faster and definitely costs less.

A WLAN USB stick is basically a WLAN chip that is connected to USB. So it should work.

I already have FN + F12, but flight mode is not activated. My laptop somehow no longer supports WLAN, so not at all.

Kr

I do the same.

Yes. Use a Wi-Fi stick myself because I don't have a Wi-Fi card.
