Can I view one screen at a time with the virtual machine host and client operating systems installed?

I want to install a not yet determined virtual machine with Linux (presumably Mint) and Win7 as a client. Later, a further connected monitor with both operating systems is to be used. Win 7 should not have a network connection (Internet) but should run as Beos for certain software. Is that possible?

Win10 is out of the question because of the narrow hardware configuration of the laptop meant here and should not be discussed further.

So you want to work on the VM and the host at the same time?

If the laptop works, just pull the window from the VM to one monitor and continue working on the other as usual. You can even set your VM to have its own keyboard / mouse assigned, in theory two people can work at the same time.
