Yes the online character remains, this is bound to your account and stored online.
The offline save does not remain however, since GTA illogically stores this offline in the document folder.
Therefore, you will probably need to re-play the tutorial before you can go online.
Alternatively, search for the GTA V folder in the Documents folder and copy it to your laptop in the same path.
