For a longer period of time and when it is already full. What are the consequences?
Overload
The battery only lasts like that and so many charging cycles means fully charging the battery once. If you plug in the laptop overnight, however, it always goes down 1% and then recharges it directly and so you have a lot more charging cycles. As a result the battery dies much faster
The built-in electronics usually prevent overcharging, so that is not a problem at all.
My laptop has been connected to the electricity 24/7 for years, because I mostly only use it stationary and the battery still lasts well, while I know many who always empty their battery first before closing it again, these batteries usually no longer last so good
The reason for this is that the batteries only go through a certain number of charging cycles; if the power supply unit is connected and the battery is full, the battery is not used.
