Hi so I reset my laptop about 18 hours ago and it always restarts and shows the DELL logo, then a blue, light screen appears and it switches off again and restarts…
What should I do? I should actually need it again today (work!)
Have you set up the computer from scratch? So formatted and reinstalled Windows or did a "repair" of Windows?
Go to the bios, there are enough instructions on the net, enter your model name of the laptop and bios, otherwise you just had to press the keys that it displays, e.g. F12 or f2 or del.
then you still need the boot medium of windows 10 plug the, and put this on place one in the bios.
Then let the system repair be carried out, if that doesn't work, save the data and set it up again.
He'll probably mean System Restore.
THE best will be:
Have a USB stick prepared by MS via MCT and install Win on it, maybe you can use it to start a repair attempt first
Is always preferable to a reset
Please note: Existing data will be rigorously deleted. Which, however, is also the case with a win "reset", depending on what you have set
It is better to reinstall Windows cleanly. And this is how you do it:
Download the Media Creation Tool: https://www.microsoft.com/...ndows10%20 With this you can create a Windows 10 USB boot stick. For this you need an empty formatted stick. The tool also packs all current updates onto the stick.
Boot the created stick and follow the instructions of the wizard. It offers the possibility to delete everything. One should do that. During the installation, the laptop will restart several times.
After the installation is complete, the last restart takes place. Then Windows 10 starts again. You no longer have to activate it because the product key is permanently integrated in the BIOS and is automatically adopted. The activation is fully automatic.
The last step is to go to the manufacturer's website for your laptop. Download and install the drivers there.
You now have a clean, newly installed system.
The Windows 10 USB stick should be kept well for emergencies.
Do you have a hard drive? - I had the same on my Lenovo and my Dell. Both had a hard drive. - With a normal Win 10 update both had this error. They kept starting over and over and that never stopped.
"shows the DELL logo, then a blue, light screen appears and it switches itself off and restarts…"
I brought them in for repairs and had a new SSD drive installed, and since then both have been running very well.
The old data was still on the old disk.
I'm sorry I can't give you a better answer.
