How do I optimize OpenSuSE Leap 125.1 for laptops?

I used OpenSuSE 13.2 on my notebook (intel dual core 64 bit 1.6 Ghz, NVIDIA) and switched to OpenSuSE Leap 15.1. I used a new installation with default settings (plus my favorite application programs)

Now I have the impression that the notebook gets hotter much faster than before. The fan will always run at high speeds even if the system is idle.

Are there (simple) optimization possibilities that the system generates less load?

Attempt to adjust the graphical interface accordingly. Know only the current Tumbleweed, because you can choose from several graphical interfaces.

I can't confirm that. But also after the 13.2 with KDE-4 switched to XFCE. As you can see the virtual desktop on the background image again (as in 13.2), which makes the work more enjoyable. You can still use KDE applications.
Certainly the processor has to toil less.

The Opensuse installer automatically detects if it is running on a notebook and automatically marks appropriate packages for installation. It needs no additional configuration.

Your heat problem indicates a blockage of the heat sink or the fins with dust. Older notebooks should therefore be opened and cleaned. In addition, the thermal grease of the CPU should be renewed after a few years of operation. Thus, the heat problem is usually corrected again.

Since I have the same problems with a notebook, I just took a look at the tips from Linuxhase. The suggested package tlp is already installed, if you follow the other link, you can install the package from the standard repos - but then tlp will be uninstalled. With my notebook, tlp was not activated as a service, I set it up via the service management, now it stays relatively cool.
