What is dts audio control and why is it preinstalled?

I just set up my laptop again and saw that a program called "dts audio control" was preinstalled. I've never seen it on my laptop or pc, what is it and why is it now on my laptop all of a sudden?

DTS Audio Control is the background program for your sound driver. Windows 10 installs this automatically through driver and normal updates.

You can uninstall the software, but your sound may no longer work.
