I have had internet problems on my laptop (Surface) since this morning. It takes about 8-10min to load an website. The Internet is fast on all other devices in the same network. I think it could be a trojan. Does anyone know how to delete it?

I think it could be a trojan.

It could be something else. But if you suspect…

Disconnect the device from the Internet (if possible via hardware, if possible) and switch it off. Boot from a clean boot medium (USB stick in this case) and run a scanner. With something like:

Did you ever do a proper restart?

If in the end only the browser should be affected, this can actually be determined easily if you simply install another one and test it.

It is a misconception by lay people that malware like Trojans would slow down the system. No modern malware can afford such symptoms.

With you there will be completely different reasons, e.g. Misconfigured browsers with possibly faulty add-ons or - more likely - a misconfigured or faulty anti-virus program. These parts connect to the internet connection in a controlling and filtering manner and often cause problems.

Could it be or a virus would not be a Trojan. But it's probably more of a Wi-Fi problem.

If you have a virus problem, you can get a free trial version from most major virus scanners for a month. I personally prefer Gdata.

In order for the scan to be reliable, however, you would have to install the program on an unaffected PC and then create a start CD / stick. Often called rescue CD / stick. You then do this in your PC and start from the stick / CD and run the virus scanner.

If you install a virus scanner on an infected PC, it can easily be that the virus manipulates the scanner in order not to be recognized. Hence the procedure with the stick / CD.
