On my laptop, the "3" on the numeric keypad no longer works. All other numbers do. There's no crumb or anything under the button. The mouse keyboard is also not activated, I have already checked that. Anyone have any idea what that could be? My keyboard is set to "DEU". So it shouldn't be related either.
Sounds like the button is broken.
It will probably be gone, either you buy a new laptop or use the 3 key above the keyboard.
I personally would just take the 3 key above the keyboard.
It is quite possible that a single key is broken. I also had this problem before. If so, you will most likely only be able to replace the entire keyboard. Wouldn't be a problem either. Some keyboards can be easily removed using clips that have to be pushed in. The keyboard is then simply connected with a ribbon cable. With some laptops, however, you have to take the entire device apart to replace the keyboard. Could you have a computer specialist carry it out if necessary. You could basically get the keyboard yourself, for example, it is often relatively cheap on eBay. Then simply search for a keyboard for your model.
You have apparently already tried to clean the button or checked whether there's dirt underneath. Did you ever take the button out for this? Or do you just assume that there's nothing under the button? If you haven't removed the button yet, do it. This can usually be done without problems, if necessary without using a fingernail. If everything is clean there, I would check again whether it is really due to the button. You can test whether this is the case using the on-screen keyboard, which you can find via Windows Search. You can operate the on-screen keyboard with the mouse pointer. If the key above works normally, it is up to your keyboard. If it doesn't work with the on-screen keyboard either, it is up to your system.
And replacing the keyboard is not an option? ^^
Thank you for the quick answer, Lukas.
No, I didn't remove the button. I didn't dare. That would not be a problem with a normal keyboard on the PC, but with my laptop I was not sure whether I could do it without any problems.
I'm going to take my little box to the technician. Let's see what he says.
With pleasure. What is the exact model name of your laptop? Then I could possibly give you some more information.
On the laptop, possible, but you don't know if it's worth it.
You just have to see whether you do it yourself or have it done and of course: whether it's worth it
It's an Erazer gaming notebook P6605 :)
Oh, it looks bad with a replacement keyboard. I have now found none at least quickly.
