It depends on what kind of "work" you want to do on a PC or laptop. For normal office work and Internet, a laptop is sufficient. For other things that require more power such as image and video editing or animation programs and etc. I would rather recommend a desktop PC. In general, I recommend always a desktop PC, because it simply has greater advantages, it can be more pleasant work, you can always replace old parts without having to buy the whole device again and thus is much cheaper and cheaper for the future safer. If you also need a powerful device, desktop PCs are always good, contrary to laptops you not only pay a load of coal but you also have to buy a whole device again every time the time is right which is much more expensive, because you have to put in good money for performance.

However, if you want to work on the go, then maybe I would grab a laptop, because stand PCs are unfortunately at this point a bit at a disadvantage. For lack of space, there are also small to large PC cases that you can choose, if you even have no space for it. Well. Then there's again only the possibility with a laptop or tablet, smaller it is I do not appreciate. And on a mobile phone, I think it's rather bad work. ^^
