Stereo sound only over HDMI?

Hello when I connect my laptop to the television via HDMI, I get picture and sound normally, but I can only select stereo although my system can 5.1 ?! In Windows einstellunen only stero can be selected…

Sa

Since your laptop can only play stereo, in this case it is the software and forwards information, and stereo can't become Dolby. There are some receivers that can scale it up, but that's not a real Dolby, but more of a stereo front-rear mix

And how could I fix that?

Sa

Play a new sound card and a suitable file that also contains Dolby. But be careful, even then, Dolby is not always possible on YouTube if you think so.

No, it is a video game that supports 5.1. But is it a laptop?! How should a sound card go in there?

Who doesn't want to listen to their hentai in 5.1? XD

It could be that your PC has an HDMI generation that is too old or your HDMI cable is out of date and therefore can't play 5.1.

What might also help you would be a Usb to Hdmi adapter that you can connect to the laptop and possibly transmit better sound.

Does your TV only have an HDMI connection? Maybe there's an alternative.

Does your laptop have software that can activate surround?

Or maybe you have to activate in Control Panels → Hardware and Sound → Sound → (your connected device) → Properties → Surround Sound…

All just ideas.

Another thing you could try would be to update your Realtek sound driver on the laptop. (did I forget to write)

Sa

True, some can't be upgraded, so it will not work because, as I said, the laptop is the problem in the chain. But if you have a good headset, you can enjoy 5.1.
