Internet access from the other laptop?

Can you help me with this exercise?

So that's the exercise, but unfortunately I have no idea how to start. I was at the Control Panel - Network and Internet Network and Sharing Center - I also checked the connections, but I can't get any further.

Co

Am I stupid or is the cable just plugged in and it works?

Su

Usually, you don't have to do anything as the usual preset will do all of this satisfactorily. But to solve the task - you have to click on the properties of the network adapter and then check tcp4 whether DHCP is entered there. That's it then. If in doubt, I can also take a picture for you, if that should be necessary.

Su

If the usual pre-setting has been made, then that is actually true. But since it's obviously homework, a little explanation will be needed.

Ik

Yes, that's Te.Comp, it's a program for schoolchildren, if it were that easy I wouldn't have asked the question.

Ik

Yes, I have it perfect, thank you very much!

Bo

The network has to be configured correctly, from the client side there's not really anything to be done at first. Your client sends a broadcast request to all DHCPs and gets its IP. You check on Windows via ipconfig, on Linux / Mac via ifconfig, whether you have also received a valid IP and no APIPA. Then you can still see whether a DNS server has also been specified (DHCP option), otherwise you have to enter it manually.
