FritzBox 4020 very slow

Hello everybody,

I have the problem that our FritzBox does not pass the complete DSL speed that we receive.

I use the FritzBox 4020.

If I connect my laptop directly via LAN, I get 40 MB / s in the download and 10 MB / s in the upload.

If I now connect the FritzBox to this LAN connection and then connect my laptop via WLAN, I only get 15 MB / s in the download and 6 MB / s in the upload.

I have already tested to remove all devices from the WLAN and only connect my laptop. But unfortunately it didn't work.

Is this now due to the FritzBox? Or what else can it be?

Su

What does directly connected mean? Which provider are you with?

Ab

Is that megabit / s or megabyte / s?

ni

The provider is NetCom.

Ma

Then test the Wi-Fi speeds via another smartphone or tablet, then you will know whether it is due to the FritzBox 4020 or the Wi-Fi adapter or antenna of the laptop. Very old laptops also have very old Wi-Fi hardware installed.

So test the Wi-Fi speed with other Wi-Fi devices and compare the results.

And please don't confuse MB / s with MBit / s (= Mbps).

Here are speed test sites, test different sites to find out the real truth:

Mbit / s. Sorry

Ma

Perhaps the laptop only has one WLAN module with the g standard, this can gross 54 Mbit / s, which is known to be around 50% of gross, so with perfect reception a maximum of 25 Mbit / s, the reception is not perfect it will be significantly less. So 16 Mbit / s, the g standard could be used.

Just have a look on the configuration page of the FritzBox, WLAN / radio network below, the property of each WLAN client is displayed there (press Edit, you will see all current properties).

Oh yes, 1x1 means 1 antenna for transmission and 1 antenna for reception.

2x2 uses 2 antennas and 3x3 uses 3 antennas at the same time. One WLAN stream is transmitted per antenna. So 2 WLAN streams can also provide twice the data rate.

The gross and net data rates of the WLAN standards are well explained here:

You have probably already read the AVM problem solution:
