Which studio microphone is suitable for my voice?

Is Mirkofon everything?

Hm

I have some knowledge of how to record songs at home.

I mostly sing pop, soul, and every now and then.

I had equipment before and sold it again.

The time has come to say that I want to build something right this time.

The following equipment is on my list:

Focusrite Solo audio interface.

Either rode nt1a or Neumann microphone.

JBL studio monitors.

Laptop.

Absorber for the microphone

A question about the microphone:

What is the maximum you would spend on a mirkofon?

I thought before I got 1000 euro

Paying for recordings, I prefer to record my songs at home.

I have linked a video to my voice.

Bi

Is the brand lust already going there now? The really important part is the mixer!

Ma

Your voice sounds good but you still have to practice a bit and personally I would not buy an expensive microphone. First of all I would build a fanbase better work together with others and if I had achieved that I would proudly buy something expensive😁

El

OK.

why do you answer jz to my question

El

So, I'm using the Shure SM7B with the Yamaha MG12 X U mixer

I'm also a musician and here is a track with the respective setup:

Bi

Franz Beckenbauer once described the recordings for "Football is our life" when he lifted his headphones, he heard how "horribly" the team sang in real!

Sh

As if you sang that? I saw it in the stream when Kevin reacted to it haha

El

No, I'm actually not. But it was taken up with the setup.

Sh

Oh well, okay.

Ma

Ups that was accidentally wanted to write their own commi😅

Su

What should one spend money on a mixer for when there are recordings?

Bi

It doesn't work without a mixer - I used to play in a band

Dr

And? You had to mix several instruments together live. But what does that have to do with recording a voice?

Bi

The sound of a voice does not depend on the microphone

Su

Umm A mixer is a waste of money when recording. Nothing that software can't do.

Bi

But then the microphone is probably also a minor matter

Dr

A mixer can't conjure up what a microphone can't record. 😊

Oa

Hm, there are already a few answers. I still add my mustard to it:

Interface: Jou, fits. Don't let anyone get you to a mixer, you just don't need it for the purpose. Interface is just the right thing.

Monitors: Buy smart ones that also go far enough down, otherwise the voice will lack the fullness and basis afterwards

Absorber: What do you mean by that? Absorber on the wall to improve the spatial sound? If you do it well, that's a great thing. Or do you mean pop protection?

Micro: A large condenser membrane would be the right choice for vocals, but that only works in a really quiet, well-damped room. With sufficient absorbers, in the right amount, type and in the right place in the room. No loud PC, the fan you can hear on the recordings etc. If that is the case, your micro choice sounds ok. If not, better orient it towards the stage microphone. There are really good ones that lead to great results. Many of the great, famous and successful recordings of the great singers have been made with such "simple" microphones as Shure SM57 or SM58.

Ha

I was put off by the Shure microphones because I saw videos in which mostly radio stations only used these microphones

Ha

Wow you did a good job, I need plug-ins for Adobe audition.

Do you know your stuff

Oa

Yes, they are very popular there too. But many models are very good all-rounders - that's why they are so popular. (Similar models from other manufacturers are of course also available)

Su

You don't care about sound quality? Do you read through what you write? Hear the difference between a 5 euro and a 5000 euro microphone. No difference between a 100 euro mixer and a free audio program.

Ha

What do you say about the popular Rode nt1a in connection with the Scarlet focusrite?

Oa

A good mic for the price. But just a large diaphragm with all its advantages and disadvantages. (See my original answer)
