How can I prevent the sleep mode with the HDMI cable plugged in?

I connected my HP laptop to an external monitor with an HDMI cable. Since I have hardly any space on my desk I have to close my laptop. (in the system settings it is set that he does not go into the energy saving mode). But if no HDMI cable is connected, ie. I use it normally in everyday life, it would be more practical if he goes into energy saving mode when closing.

My question: Is it possible to prevent the energy-saving mode only with a connected HDMI cable, but not in normal use?

This will not be possible without a deeper intervention in the operating system.

I know there's no query.

Maybe a docking station would be helpful.

Personally, I would do without switching off when closing.

Search your laptop, if it was delivered with a management tool. There you can set it, I think. Somewhere a directory HP or something… Perhaps there's something in the manual, where to find the tool.

If I understand correctly you want, if HDMI is plugged in on the laptop itself can't have a picture / fold, or?

You can set with Windows key + P that only the external monitor should be used, then you should be able to close the laptop. If you raussteckst HDMI again, it should be as usual.
