Wi-Fi & Bluetooth are no longer recognized?

I have had the following problem on my OMEN by HP 17-cb0700nz since yesterday:
Everything went clean the day before. I did "Home Office" as usual and mainly worked with InDesign (Adobe program). Then retired the laptop and went to sleep.

The next day, the WLAN and the Bluetooth connection were no longer active after the restart… No matter. How often I uninstall the Intel driver, reinstall it, check for updates - it just can't be activated!

If I go to the WLAN settings and want to press "On", it does not respond or switches back immediately. The device manager shows that it would be ready for operation. As soon as I'm in the network properties, it says there, not ready.

The error was not discovered using Windows problem search - just the note that I should activate the WLAN with the appropriate switch.

Even with Ashampoo Driver Update and the in-house HP Assistant, I had the driver reinstalled unsuccessfully.

What just happened there Did Windows bring out a worse update at night that caused this?

The only thing that comes to mind is a complete new installation. Which of course excites me mega…

The LAN works fine by the way, so it can't be due to the network card itself.

Can you think of anything else?

There's nothing left of you restarting the box. Did you?

You also have the Fn tests for special functions on the F keys.

It can be used to deactivate and activate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Did you accidentally come up with it?

Question joke is right there. Give it a try.
Before I, as you wrote, completely wipe out the laptop, I would call a specialist shop again and have a look if necessary.
They deal with such problems every day.

Unfortunately, this corona crisis is impossible: / They are all with us… And since I need the laptop for the vocational school, I can't just send it in.

Gi

Of course, this was restarted - after every new driver update. I have already tried using the FN key. But neither using the buttons nor using "WLAN" + "Bluetooth" is useful. It remains deactivated.

Windows 10. You should look for it in connection with WLAN and Bluetooth. Wouldn't be surprised if that was another bug of this cruel operating system

Gi

It's so. As far as I know, Intel also likes to combine WLAN, Bluetooth on the same card. Which can lead to problems (as far as I read when I contacted Google this morning)

But there should also be some use when installing a new driver. And for me it is also strange that everything is ready for operation in the device manager and again not in the network settings. But now I'm not the PC nerd who knows so well

Is this also a Win10 upgrade from win7? So I just read that the shoots should all be removed. After the restart, Windows should look for the drivers themselves.

Gi

No, the LapTop itself was delivered to me with Windows 10, since it was bought in August 2019. I hope it's a known worsening fix that's going to be fixed this week. I really can't think of anything else

Do you have a live CD? Live DVD? USB stick with an Ubuntu, Knoppix? Start the box over such a medium and see how the Wi-Fi behaves there.

Gi

I don't have one. But would be an idea to try Live Ubuntu. I'll try in the afternoon

Gi

Your suggestion with the Live USB from Ubuntu was awesome:-) I was able to activate the WLAN there and after restarting Windows, the WLAN went again.
No idea why the previous driver updates were of no use - that has solved the crept bug.

😄 😄 👍🏼 If that wasn't the most helpful answer, I don't know either.

Gi

Definitely 😄 👍🏼

You can choose that later.

Gi

I will of course, as soon as it is active tomorrow:-) thanks again
