Sharpen screenshots so that excerpts with text are easy to read?

I'm using windows 10 with the new snipping tool on an hp laptop.

Took screenshots of clippings with text. When you zoom in, the text isn't really sharp. How do I get it sharper so that it is easy to read?

ra

Can you adjust the compression of the image?

Do you mean this tool

Gu

In retrospect you can only improve pictures slightly. You probably mean like on television when the criminal experts turn bad images into razor-sharp images, that doesn't really work.

But if a text is not easy to read you will not be able to improve it.

I can recommend "LIGHTSHOT" for screenshots!

Works better in my opinion & offers more possibilities, try it out. Incidentally, you can trigger the screenshot with the print button or by clicking on the spring in the lower right corner.

Yeah, I mean the snipping tool. That means "cut out and sketch" now.

Ja

Basically not at all.

Practically every image processing program beyond Paint offers filters to sharpen content. Mostly through filters / effects and also with different rendering methods.

But they all have something in common: They only increase the contrasts and strengthen visible edges. In the best case, this may create a slightly sharper overall picture, but details are more likely to be lost.

The sharpening of texts is thus counterproductive. In case of doubt, the fine lines, serifs and narrow kerning are completely lost after sharpening. And if the text is inherently difficult to read, even the most vigorous sharpening will not do anything.

It would be more important to pay attention to an enlarged representation during the recording (eg by text zoom if possible) and to save a low-compression or loss-free file format such as PNG or even BMP for later post-processing.

Set the compression, I don't know… I'm an absolute technology layman.

I use FastStone Capture - I'm very happy with it.

He is shown normally on the side - stop in his area. I thought that it should be shown normally using a screenshot. But that it gets so fuzzy… I want to use it as a work sample…

ma

And that also shows the text areas recorded in the freeware version on a page? Is it easy to use for laypeople?

ma

Is this easy to use for laypeople and does it depict recorded text areas sharply so that they are also sharp when you enlarge them?

ra

Yes, and you don't need the bar permanently in the foreground. Put it on the print button. You can crop, add any text, arrows, etc.

5.3 was the last free version

Maybe you will take a look at it first to see if it is something for you.

Very easy to use, how sharp it becomes ultimately depends on how much you enlarge it. However, I can recommend that you check the settings before you take screenshots, where you can set the quality to 100%. Most programs use a lower resolution by default because the file uses less memory & these can then be easily attached to mails.

Right click on the feather at the bottom right> Settings> Formats here you can set the screenshot quality in the above tool.
