Laptop in the passenger compartment but hand luggage in the cargo hold?

I have a question about flying and have hardly flown so far. I fly from France to Germany over Christmas and have booked the tariff with Eurowings, where you have no luggage apart from the hand luggage. Now I have received the message that it may be that I can't have the hand luggage in the passenger compartment. No problem for me, except that I want to take my laptop with me. I'm afraid to take the laptop with me when the luggage is in the cargo hold, because the suitcases are not treated very carefully, you can't blame people, but I'm afraid that the laptop will break. I have read that in this case small pieces of luggage, such as Can take a small handbag or a laptop into the passenger compartment, but the side was not the most serious and I ask myself whether this is correct, because there are regulations on how big such a "mini piece of luggage" may and should be a laptop is bigger than a small handbag. Has anyone ever had this case and flew with Eurowings and can tell me what's right and what's wrong?

You can take your laptop with you into the passenger compartment, which is also advisable.

If you are actually asked at the gate to put your luggage in the luggage compartment to be stowed away, take out your laptop and take it with you. It definitely fits under the seat of the person in front. A sleeve / bag is recommended. Either way.

Most of the time you can actually take your on-board luggage with you on board if you have booked it this way.
