Good laptop for computer science students? Can you recommend something?

A friend of mine swears by the Thinkpads from Lenovo.
He is currently being trained as a computer scientist.
Would be my next choice, unfortunately I have now a Dell…

I studied computer science myself and never knew much about it.

From experience, I can report that most were traveling with a Thinkpad or Apple device.

Although I'm not a computer science student, I use a Thinkpad myself and also know some math and computer science students who also have one. They are mainly used to get quite cheap, otherwise there's also student discount (Lenovo campus).

Which one is better? The IdeaPad or the ThinkPad. The presi difference is namely great and I need no expensive.

Depends on how you better defined. I believe the Thinkpad has better materials, as it is more of a busieness model and therefore it is often taken away.

But that is pure speculation. I do not have much idea of hardware and google mostly after Benchmakrs to decide me.
