I have a problem and one day my laptop just went off and did not go on, nor did the power indicator. My power supply usually delivers 19v. A very quiet "click" sound can be heard on the mainboard. (Warning, I'm not an electrician) If I'm not mistaken, it should be a MOSFET. This one gets warm. Do you have any idea what is going on?
Laptop: Toschiba Satelitte L755
Possibly defective power supply
would otherwise have said change the battery on the mainboard but if that's not the case I would take a closer look at the power supply and possibly test a different laptop with the cable
I connected another power supply and there was the same error again. What I noticed as soon as I plug in the power supply, the 19v go down to 0.5V to 2.3V. When this "click" occurs, the voltage increases from 0.5V to approx. 2.3V.
Oh and I also changed the CMOS battery, left it for 30 minutes without a battery and tried to short circuit where the battery is (of course the laptop was not connected).
