I'm trying to get the "new Internet" for a neighbor.
Contract is the company with the V
Speed 1000 Mbit / s DL goes almost fully to the "combination device" (gigabit or similar).
Speed 50 Mbit / s UL now and then also reaches the computer (approx. 30 Mbit / s)
On the PC - approx. 15 years old DDR2 - 4 or 8 GB ArbSp. 2x2.6 Ghz Win7 U… Gommt so far max 300 Mbit / s.
The laptop (Toschiba Satellite approx. 6 years old, Win8.1 4GB DDR3 ArbSp. 4x2Ghz) has reached a maximum of 90 Mbit / s so far.
(Lappy is mainly used)
Both are LAN connected to the combination and were tested with Firefox mostly on the "V-side".
(On other sites, same problem)
During the test with my PC (approx. 1 year old) the "full" speed came up.
Can you (I) do anything (software or hardware if it is not too expensive)?
so that he at least gets more speed on the laptop?
Have not quite read the bustle now but yes there are different Wi-Fi and lan standards such as gigabit lan port and how wlan standards are a bit more complicated so yes it will be due to the hardware
A corresponding WLAN antenna via USB slot and the current wireless standard should increase the power consumption accordingly. Antennas deliver higher performance for less money, small USB dongles would be preferable, but cost more. From 15-25 euro the performance could at least easily quadruple.
Thank you, but it's LAN and not W-Lan (with cable).
Or did you mean that I can get more speed over Wi-Fi than currently with LAN?
Without knowing the exact model, it can't be said which network architecture is installed. You can only find out whether the notebook has a Gigabit LAN or not by looking at the model name. According to the descriptions, I assumed Wi-Fi. And at least there, models from the last few years had not installed any antennas that could even come close to maxing out 1Gigabit.
Yes, I also know that, but it doesn't help.
But the Wi-Fi is still a good idea.
I'll try it out… If it's faster than CURRENT LAN, it's good.
My old Wi-Fi card (about 10-15 years old) wanted to download max 2mbs, but with the new one I have twice as much. So it can also be due to hardware / software.
According to the converter, the "older" Wi-Fi should bring 430 Gbit / s.
which is about 5 years old.
The new one (about 3 months old) didn't work, I haven't had the chance to test it on myself.
But I'll do it right away on the second computer.
430 Gbit / s interesting WLAN card.
Let's put it this way: The main problem is that you don't separate the Internet from the LAN thematically. And you have to have basics like this if you want to configure networks.
I won't start now by considering the physical laws of radio (WLAN).
We don't know exactly how you found the numbers - we just know that you can't tell the Internet and LAN apart.
In short: You have to put all the answers with tips in the "guess" section. But maybe someone will hit the jackpot.
If you want to familiarize yourself with the basics, you will find an introduction to the topic "http://www.olivergast.de/blog/2011/04/16/netzwerkguide_1/" here and here to the topic "https://www.tor7.de/funktechnik-grundlagen" (whether walkie talkie or WLAN does not matter at first!).
(the old) TP-Link 54 Mbps / TL-WN321G
(the new) TP-Link Mod.Archer T4U - AC1300 - 400/867 Mbps (depending on frequency)
… But… Own stupidity… I hadn't installed the driver of the new one with the neighbor.
I'll try again with him later.
(For me it works)
