Bad sound at JBL Go?

I tried to connect my JBL Go to my laptop and it worked with Bluetooth as well. The problem is the sound. The sound is bad and it sounds like someone has recorded and played the song from another device. Does anyone know why this is?

Did you connect the speaker to your phone instead to rule out a bug in the speaker?
