Laptop only allows one more screen, how to work around it?

Yes my question above says it all, my new laptop only allows one additional screen. I once heard of certain USB ports that have an operating system so that another screen can be connected. Is there such a thing at all? Or does anyone else have an idea of how I can connect a second monitor despite this problem?
