I have a new laptop (not pc)
What are the main programs I should download to Winrar and such
I also want to play on the laptop do I need programs for that too?
imagine you buy a new pc what are the first and most important programs you download?
My standard web browser, then all drivers, 7zip, afterburner for OCC graphics, provided Intel's XTU for OCC the CPU and finally a neat anti-virus program.
For a gaming PC I install:
-steam
-Discord
(WINE & Lutris, but does not apply to Windows PCs)
-Nual Nvidia drivers
Mostly pre-installed, but I also have it on:
-Firefox
-Thunderbird
Archive management (well, rar I still have to install as a supplement)
Of course you have to install Firefox and Thunderbird on Windows
For me always the most important:
Microsoft Office
Google Chrome
itunes
Amazon music
VLC player
Final Fantasy 14 (Windows client not the Steam version)
Thanks first I have no idea of drivers and so I'm new to the field!
I have a laptop with windows 10 should i install the same driver as you
If Win10 was pre-installed by the manufacturer, the device drivers were of course also installed.
Firefox or hold another browser like Chrome. Whichever you like the most
Antivirus like Avast, Avira, etc.
Steam or other gaming platforms, with Steam being mostly pretty well covered
7zip (because I can't WinRar)
VLC Media Player
MSI Afterburner
TeamSpeak or Discord
A text editor like Word, OpenOffice or LibreOffice
Instead of Winrar I recommend 7zip: https://www.7-zip.de/ This is free software and can also handle the formats Winrar can. If you e.g. To extract a rar file, right-click on it and then choose 7zip.
Then you go to the manufacturer side of the laptop. There you can download the latest drivers. After the download simply double-click install.
As a web browser I would not take Edge which is included with Windows 10, but Google Chrome: https://www.google.com/...de/chrome/ He is faster than Edge.
Here is a Youtube-Downloader and converter: https://www.4kdownload.com/de/products/product-videodownloader Downloading on Youtube is legal for purely private purposes. After the installation and the first start click on Intelligent mode. Put the tick on Enable Smart Mode, then choose the desired format (e.g., MP3, MP4, etc.) and, for quality, e.g. Best Quality. Select a folder in the destination directory where the downloads are to be saved. And so you download a Youtube video. First, call up the desired Youtube video. Then play and pause. Now right-click in the Youtube video and click on Copy Video URL. Then click on Insert Link on Youtube-Downloader. And already is downloaded and converted.
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/.../?l=german There are many games here. Both free and paid.
As an office package I recommend Libreoffice. Free software consists of text, spreadsheets, presentation, drawing, database and formula editor: https://de.libreoffice.org/...ffice.org/ Can also handle Microsoft Office documents.
Instead of the Windows Media Player, I recommend the VLC Media Player: https://www.vlc.de/ This can play everything.
