So my laptop can have a maximum of 8 GB of RAM… Can you still upgrade to more or is not possible
Have a look to see if there's a BIOS update for your book, as it would be possible that the board allows a memory extension.
But must follow exactly the instructions of the update and under no circumstances by battery update. The device type should read down the bottom of the book on a small Schilderl, not use the type above, because there could still be a GS or something hinterndranstehen.
It could be more. This is due to many variables.
To one it may be that at this time only 4GB modules exemplified but the chip could manage more. Means read what the chip max. Manage.
Or the BIOS at the time of its appearance could only address 8GB. So check if a new BIOS can do more.
Or your notebook has only 1 slot and this max. 8GB, it could have 2 slot, it could be 16GB or unlikely 4 slots then 32GB.
So you realize there are many possibilities. Things change… The same scheme applies to notebooks where you can swap the CPU. When the laptop appeared, it was only possible to use a T7200, after 2 years new CPUs come on the market and the BIOS would be renewed and already you could use a T8xxx (served only as an example). So, nothing is set in stone.
If the laptop supports a maximum of 8 GB of RAM, then only 8 GB of RAM are supported.
