Hi, I was just about to start homeschooling, but suddenly I can't hear anything, not with headphones. But I can't make it loud without headphones because I'm not alone. This is very annoying, and I'm a nut to the computer, can someone help me quickly, please?
Have you perhaps pressed the shortcut (key) for mute (silence) is usually "m" or do you have a laptop where you can change the volume directly by means of a wheel or something else?
Is there a red cross or similar below the volume sign?
If the cross is white, then only the sound is muted.
If there's a red cross, no sound output is recognized.
I have a somewhat older laptop where you can change the volume in the lower right corner of the bar
No, everything is normal there, no crosses, nothing at all, the volume is also set to 16, but I can't hear the sound
Turn the volume up to 100, right click on the symbol, go to open volume mixer and do everything to 100%.
Everything is down to a hundred, and sound still does not work…
Then the speakers are probably broken or some setting has been changed. Give headphones a try
Do you have that everywhere or only at Zoom / Teams / whatever you use?
If only in the conference program, then check the settings to see whether the correct output device is set.
If everywhere then: at the bottom right (probably next to your battery symbol) there's a symbol that looks like a loudspeaker. Right click on it and click on Volume Mixer. Is everything down to zero? If not, then see if the correct output device is set for Sounds (can also be found by right-clicking on the icon).
I think I phrased the question incorrectly… Sry, I mean it doesn't work without headphones but with headphones, and I can't do without headphones because I'm not alone… Sorry
At the bottom right you have a microphone symbol,
look there whether there's an x if so then switch on
Otherwise a right click on it → open sound settings → change output device to headphones → change input device to microphone
if that doesn't work maybe. Update the driver via the device manager under USB connected or audio
What has to be there for sounds (output device)?
Then the jack connection is probably broken. If you have bluetooth headphones, try them
Depending on what you use. In your case I guess headphones? They have to be set as the standard.
