I have a Lenovo 14 inch laptop

128gb ssd

4gb ddr4 2666mhz 2133mhz is supported

I ordered m.2 ssd speed: read: 2010 MB / s, write: 1250 MB / s
I'm considering replacing the next 4GB RAM with an 8GB ddr4 2666mhz

MY QUESTION

more ram also brings a little more freedom with Win 10 PRO 64Bit

Or 4GB RAM are sufficient for everyday use and surfing email text writing

From 4 to 8 GB is always worthwhile. No matter what you do with your calculator.

I also think 8GB RAM is more appropriate. I upgraded to 8GB last year and the difference is also noticeable. Windows will then run more smoothly, especially. ^^

There are calculators with ram

Which cpu did you have a laptop with?

I wouldn't spend any extra money on that. If you use it for everyday things like internet, e-mail, writing texts etc., I recommend installing a Linux distribution on it. I recommend Lubuntu. This only requires 1/3 of the system resources that Windows 10 would otherwise need. This also benefits the battery life.

Here is the download of the current stable long-term support version: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/...-amd64.iso Then flash the ISO with Rufus https://rufus.ie/ on an empty formatted USB stick.

Insert the created stick and switch on the laptop. Press F2 immediately. You are now in the UEFI. There you have to deactivate secure boot first and then put the stick in the first place in the boot sequence. Save and exit.

The laptop restarts and boots the stick. Simply follow the instructions of the installer. It offers the option of deleting the hard drive / SSD and also sets up the WLAN. Have your network key ready. I recommend a full installation. Firefox, LibreOffice, multimedia components and tools are also installed.

After completing the installation and starting it for the first time, Update Manager will appear in the task bar. Install these updates. The update manager not only takes care of the system, but also of the installed programs. You don't have to update every single program like Windows. The whole thing can also be completely automated so that it runs in the background.

And this is how you install programs: Start menu> System tools> Software. It is like a kind of app store and is also operated in this way.

Sometimes you have to install programs that are not available in the app store. Such programs exist for Lubuntu as a DEB file. These are installation packages that you simply install with a double click. Examples:

Skype: https://go.skype.com/...nux-64.deb

Youtube downloader and converter: https://www.4kdownload.com/de/products/product-videodownloader It can also be downloaded as an MP3 from YouTube.
Discord: https://discordapp.com/download

You can find both in the Start menu> Internet

You don't have to do without Spotify on Linux either. Installation is a bit complicated for Linux beginners. I explain the necessary steps:

Start menu> System tools> LXTerminal. That is the command line. Enter the following commands here or copy & paste (identical to Windows) and complete with Enter:

curl -sS https://download.spotify.com/debian/pubkey.gpg | sudo apt-key add -
echo "deb http://repository.spotify.com stable non-free" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/spotify.list
sudo apt update -y
sudo apt install spotify-client -y

Teamspeak:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: beardoverflow / ts3client
sudo apt update -y
sudo apt install ts3client -y

The flash player should only be installed if you absolutely need it. To do this, enter the following command in the command line and complete with Enter:

sudo apt install flashplugin-installer -y

This installs a script that always automatically downloads and installs the latest flash player from the Adobe site.

If you compare Lubuntu with Windows 10 now, Windows 10 is a lame duck. Even with only 4GB RAM, Lubuntu runs extremely fast.
