Laptop has 8gb but I only have 3.8 available. Why is that?

Got a laptop for Christmas (Lenovo v145). Mainly use it for work, but would also like to play e.g. Gta 5 or Euro Truck 2 (other games). Have Windows 10, 64bit, 2.30ghz, 500gb memory and 8gb Ram. I can only play Euro Truck smoothly on the medium setting, which is unfortunately not fun. I noticed that my laptop only has 3.6gb of 8gb of ram available. Can you set it so that I can gamble better?

According to the Task Manager, 3.8 GB is in use. Have a look in the processes which programs draw a lot of RAM there. Then maybe you can tweak that a bit.

An extremely large number of programs and services are running in the background, which is perfectly normal and can't be avoided. These require the RAM, hence the load.

It is pretty clear that you have 7.5GB available, you only had 3.8GB in use at the time you took the screenshot.

You realize that only 3.8 Gb of 8Gb are currently used, right? The system just doesn't need more at that moment. If more is required, then up to 8 Gb are used.

About 512MB are deducted for the integrated graphics card. The rest will go to Windows 10 and other programs. If you click on Processes in the Task Manager and then click the Memory field, you can see which program is using the most memory. I would deactivate or uninstall this program for now.

In addition, the 3.8 GB of 8 GB are in use, you still have 3.6 GB available.
