Hi. I wanted an upgrade from my 8GB RAM to 16GB RAM and today the order arrived. Have the 2x 4GB taken out of my notebook and inserted the 2x 8GB. Now the following problem. In the Task Manager I'm still only 8GB displayed and the BIOS only recognizes 8GB.
My notebook: HP Pavilion 15-bc202ng
I tried to find out if maybe only 8GB are possible, but HP's PDFs are so stupidly formulated that I do not see what that means.
After some search on the internet I tried to execute, msconfig to remove the hook from the tabs, unfortunately without success.
Incidentally, my task manager just shows me the following:
In use 4.5GB (225MB) Available 3.2GB
Commit executed 6.4 / 15.9 GB in the cache 3.2 GB
What does Commit executed because there seemingly up to 16GB are possible but neither Wiindows nor the BIOS recognize my new 16GB RAM?
Would be great if someone could help me, otherwise I have to send back the new memory unfortunately I suppose.
Since your hardware in the laptop is not suitable for processing more RAM. You can pick up the RAM or sell it privately.
Did you perhaps buy registered Dimm?
Have bought the following RAM: https://www.amazon.de/...01BIWMWVS/
Hm, should work: / See if you can set in Uefi, how much GB gets the integrated graphics. Possibly. Are you 8GB zugeustert so that you only 8 remain.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what Uefi is How do I get there?
Uefi or Bios is the (independent of windows) own program of the motherboard. There you can get on most PCs by pressing DEL on startup. What exactly you have to press, however, is usually in the first picture that appears after switching on.
Have solved the problem. Notebook screwed again, on the two RAMs blown and test times exchanged places and it's already worked.
So, your notebook is supposed to support 16 GB of RAM.
Turn off your notebook. Build a latch. Turn on the notebook and drive it up to Windows. Then shut it down and turn it off. Build the second bar and drive up your system.
If it still does not work, do the same again as before, but then take the first 4GB bar and then an 8GB bar or vice versa.
Then the 4 GB out and the second 8 GB pure.
Then report here.
