My laptop has not booted for months. I turn it on and the Windows 10 logo appears with the charging point underneath and then the picture goes out and in between you can see the mouse pointer. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Boot the laptop with the installation media, then go to the repair options.
Unfortunately, I no longer have that, is there another option?
Download Win 10 from somewhere, boot it, press f2 repeatedly, and then it goes into the BIOS, then from… Boot, and then it goes, then just clone it into the hard drive, and that's it
Boot your notebook with a Windows 10 installation medium and start the repair options.
You can easily create an installation medium on another PC by downloading the media creation tool from the Microsoft website and using it to create a bootable USB stick or an ISO DVD. So it should work. Alternatively, if there's nothing important on the laptop, you could use it to completely reinstall Windows 10.
I would boot with Linux (should also work with Windoof, see my point 2) and then take a closer look at the hard drive stats. Had the problem once and it was because a defective hard drive was sold to me on Ebay.
Otherwise you can download a WIndows10 image here: https://www.microsoft.com/.../windows10 and do it with dme.
I had exactly the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5. Since I had no access to another PC, I had to send it in for repair and paid 120 euro for a new installation of Windows 10 with data backup. If you have access to another PC, download the Microsoft Creation Tool and reinstall Windows.
