I'm a student with too little money and I would like to buy a Surface.
I thought about buying a Surface Go with 8GB Ram which costs> = 700 euro with pen and type cover…
I then looked around for used Surfaces, hoping to find something better at this price point…
In addition one must say that I would buy the laptop for a company and I would have to pay with the official offer only ~ 588 euro.
Among other things, I asked myself how much Ram you need at all (would have to make Office apps, browser and Java / Python on the laptop) …
Also, I've heard that typing with the pen on the Pro4 is a bit bumpy, but the feature would be important to me (or that it works well).
So: Does anyone have a recommendation for a specific model or know how much ram I would need?
My experience with the Surface Pro 2: Leave it. You will not be happy. Too big for a tablet, too small for a notebook, SSD way too small, insufficient number of USB ports. All in all: Nice, but not really made for meaningful work.
The Surface Go also has only Windows 10 S on it - that can only install apps from the store. The S-mode can indeed turn off, but if it still works 100% with the Surface Go, I do not know.
Invest the money rather in a reasonable notebook with a large SSD, because you have more of.
Ok, I did not want to buy a Pro 2 right now…
To get a touch screen + good specs for less money is just critical…
Well, do you think the problems with the Pro 2 are not there on the Surface Go?
If your money is tight, then do not use Surface Pro / Go. The students have a few people studying with me, they are only so mediocre content.
I bought the laptop here. It costs almost nothing and is easily enough for the university.
