I currently own a MacBook Pro 2012 mid. That means my laptop is not really good. It's very slow etc.

Since I was very happy with my MacBook, it's time for a new one! But which one?

I'm considering buying a MacBook air 2020 M1. Because I'm a student, so I don't necessarily need the Pro. Or?

well I wanted to buy the Air, but I read a few times that it quickly overheats. But some also said that it Can't overheat because it has a cooling system.

Do you use a McBook air M1? Are you satisfied? Is it overheating? And is it enough for a high school graduate?

As far as I know there's no fan in the M1 Air.
So if you plan to use the full performance of the Macbook, e.g. With video rendering, etc., it won't last long or severely reduce performance.

There are a lot of videos on YouTube about the new M1 Macbooks, I can recommend you to take a look. The Air will definitely be enough for you, the new M1 can't be compared to the processor in your 2012 Macbook, it is even more powerful than any Intel Macbook ever was. The part does not get hot either, although no fan is installed. The battery life is also excellent.

No, I guess I won't have to cut videos. I've done it a couple of times with mine.

I'm the owner of a MacBook Pro with an M1.

The MacBook Air has a new, unbeatable cooling system and therefore works without a fan.

I have already cut high-resolution videos on my M1 MBPro several times - without any problems.

By the way, I've never heard the fan (the Pro still has one), and it was always lukewarm at best.

It is complete nonsense that the performance is throttled or the like.

You won't have any problems with cutting the video either. The rendering is CPU intensive. The throttling should occur after approx. 10 minutes of full load.

That's right 👌
