Dear people,
I have the opportunity to take over a new, up-to-date MacBook Air. Unfortunately, I do not know (apart from the iPod Classic) with Apple products, so my question:
What is a MacBook Air especially good for?
Which tasks can be dealt with well, what is the performance sufficient for?
Are there (older) games that would run on the laptop?
When can I say that I have fully exploited the potential of the device?
What do you use your MacBook Air for?
My basic requirements include word processing and, if possible, the installation of an anatomy tutorial a lá "Visible Body" or a Mac-enabled, similar program.
The alternative would be to sell the MacBook and buy another laptop for the price. So far, I have no ideas what that could be.
A few answers to the questions would help me a lot!
I say in advance in advance Thank you to all for reading!
Too nothing, he actually has more disadvantages to a Windows laptop so alleged benefits. If you're hardcore, I also recommend Linux Mint.
Thanks for the quick response… I heard a few angry voices saying that Apple takes much more consideration for users' privacy than Windows. I like that because I might have to dial into open Wi-Fi networks on the way.
Since Appel has absolutely no advantage the hacker is not interested in whether Apple or Windows.
A Macbook Air has the advantage that it is small and light… Today, however, Ultrabooks are common, so the Air has lost this unique selling point…
I would not get an air, prefer. A Thinkpad (especially used business devices are actually as good as new ones, but cost only a fraction)
A few angry voices I've heard rumors that Apple takes much more consideration for the privacy of users compared to Windows
They say yes, but in the end they use your data just like other companies…
I like that because I might have to dial into open Wi-Fi networks on the way.
That has nothing to do with it. If someone wants it, he'll get your data… No matter which OS
Operating systems do not have anything to do with WLAN security. The biggest security risk is always the user in front of the computer. Well, as far as snooping is concerned, Apple is not a blank slate either. In my daily practice, I deal with Apple and Windows systems, the applications used are not different, this is what matters most.
MacBooks are especially suitable for video producers, music producers and general Adobe products. Also, if you need a very light laptop with a very large battery. Games are likely to run on low settings, but MacBooks are not meant for that, but to work.
Open WLAN are not as catastrophic as often claimed. Mostly the communication is encrypted, so what? Well, I would not do banking now, but otherwise…
And yes, although many like to say the opposite, your privacy is not perfect at Apple, but better protected than anywhere else.
SSL Stripper and Zack or evil twin, Arp spoofing, js keylogger or man in the middle is you already a term or?
Video producers, music producers and generally Adobe products
with an Air? Xd
But not necessarily with MacOS you still have better performance than with a comparable Windows device. With i5 and 16GB Ram, quite a lot is possible.
Not necessarily
the questioner has explicitly mentioned an Air
better performance than with a comparable Windows device
Not really… But it's always up to the user…
Besides, you do not have to rely on Linux… You can also use Linux and are better served than anything else
Hau some disadvantages, apart from the price out.
The professional takes a Pro 15 ", that's clear to me, but it is quite possible to work with an Air. The performance is used much better on Adobe products on MacOS. And you have synonymous with a Mac, in contrast to the Windows device, The ability to use any operating system A Windows device can (legally) not use MacOS.
Why take the price out, because that's one of the biggest arguments. For the same hardware you pay much more…
but okay. You have
the closed Apple Ecosystem
can't or hardly modify the laptop
fewer programs - especially free
Adapter compulsion for virtually all useful devices meanwhile
etc etc…
A Windows device can (legally) not use MacOS.
and why would I want that?
MacOS with its extremely closed system is not really conducive…
In addition:
The performance of Adobe products is much better used on MacOS
Not really…
Fewer ports -> overpriced adapters the operating system generally has fewer models to choose from, etc.
No what is that?
That's the joke - it would be a gift to me as the real owner does not need it. The owner personally offered to sell it to me if another device would suit me better for the sales proceeds.
Not directly, but especially with the name "Man in the middle" I can imagine what it's all about… I personally have not had any experience
Only the adapter. You can play any operating system.
And you can't modify it. I have recently used my laptop, e.g. The SSD and the display (!) Exchanged…
