When I watch series and films that come from the USA or play in the USA, the people there apparently only ever use Apple products, i.e. Macbooks, iMacs, iPads and of course iPhones. But always only: Apple, Apple, Apple. I don't remember seeing someone in a US series or movie that used a Windows laptop or Android smartphone. Therefore I would be interested to know whether Americans in their country also use Windows, (or Linux) computers or Android smartphones in any significant number. Does anyone happen to know?
Do you really think that films and series use the devices that the actors or directors want to take?
Ever heard of product placement?
https://de.wikipedia.org/...latzierung
A lot of money is paid for the XY mobile phone to be used by the superhero in the next blockbuster.
I strongly assume that these are also product placements.
iPhones are actually much more common there than in Germany.

Subjectively, there are even more, I was once in the USA and Android devices were really the exception. Communication with iMessage is also much more common there. Almost no one does this in Germany, but it is not as effective with the smaller market share.
I don't know how many people in the US use Android phones, but you have to consider that it is not the private devices that are shown in the films, but that the film producers are mostly paid for by Apple.
You mean that is "product placement"? Of course there could be something there.
The market share there's considerably larger than in De, but Windows and Android are clearly outnumbered there too. You are exaggerating too, I also see many other devices. I also see a lot of Macs and iPhones in European / German productions, but the logo is mostly retouched there.
Film producers are paid by Apple? Where did you get that from?
No, it's not a "product placement", Apple doesn't pay for that. At best, they provide the devices. On loan, mind you.
I strongly assume that these are also product placements.
You are wrong. At best, the devices are made available on loan.
Do you really think that films and series use the devices that the actors or directors want to take?
Yes, that's exactly how the director determines what can be seen in his film.
A lot of money is paid for
This is quite common, but Apple doesn't pay anything, at best they provide devices.
According to Heise, this was only the case in nine of 35 films in 2014.
It is also a product placement. And if you just googlet for a minute, you find out that Apple is even the No. 1 even before Coca Cola.
And that's not a product placement?
If you want to call it that. For me, product placement is a form of advertising. A company approaches the film freaks and pays money for their product to be recognizable. If the director wants something pretty in the picture and asks a company to provide it but doesn't pay for it, it's not the same thing.
Product placement = company pays money to show their products.
"Product placement is permitted in Germany as a so-called" product provision ", in which companies provide their products for film productions free of charge."
Funny that that's exactly what Apple does 🤔 If that's not a product placement, what is it? A favor?
But that's not how it works! It is the companies that are interested in their products appearing in films. Ideally, the producer can still use some money, the director is still looking for an eye-catcher, and the manufacturer gives his product with the aim of advertising.
Yes, a favor. Otherwise there would be money for it and it would be the form of advertising called product placement.
That is a particularly clever form of product placement, which is also free for Apple.
Ideally, the producer can still use some money
He can certainly do that, but there's none from Apple.
And how do you explain that the film must be labeled as supported by product placements from a value of 1000 euro? Is the courtesy a product placement after all?
Each MacBook exceeds this value, and usually several Apple products are shown. I don't mind, but not seeing that as a product placement is ridiculous.
If I haven't got anywhere, it just seemed logical to me that sometimes it's a product placement
