I have a BlackFridayDeal where I pay CHF 1649 instead of CHF 1829.
There it is about the MacBook Pro M1 8gb Ram and 1TB SSD.
Now I wonder if 8Gb RAM is enough. I don't want to play any games on the laptop, except my own. I'm an application developer and I have to do a lot of programming. But I've seen a lot of reviews where they say that 8GB RAM is enough because that's such a good memory.
What do you all mean?
With 8GB you are more likely to bend the CPU / GPU than to get the RAM full.
Some more advertising on our own behalf: Have you ever looked at the Razer Blade 15 models? They are much better equipped, but still look good - and you could even upgrade RAM freely.
It depends on what exactly you need to program.
I have
Slack
PhpStorm
2-3 Docker containers
SQL client
2-3 terminal
5-10 tabs Chrome
And regularly use the entire 16 GB.
However, it is also an Intel MB Pro.
Edit: I'm currently at 15.38 GB
Edit: If I didn't get the MB from my employer, I would have opted for 32GB.
8GB in the price range is an insult. Nowadays I would rather use 16gb, especially if you have several things open at the same time or are working on workstation tasks.
This configuration makes absolutely no sense in my opinion.
The memory upgrade is far too expensive and unnecessary, as everything can just as easily be saved in the iCloud or on an external disk. The internal memory should only be used for programs and frequently used files.
The MacBook Pro is almost identical to the MacBook Air. The fan has only a minimal advantage, because it is off most of the time, even when it is under load. It's definitely not worth the extra charge.
The RAM makes the MacBook a little bit faster in some situations. Here, too, the memory can be swapped out to the SSD, which is also very fast.
It is not worth buying an upgrade at all and if so, then the only thing worth buying is the RAM.
Oke interesting thanks.
I program in SAP with Abap.
I just don't need that many tabs, a maximum of 5 are open with me.
I don't have a laptop.
Do you think I should buy it or rather not.
Or a MacbookAir with 16GB Ram?
MacOS simply does not delete all the garbage data if there's enough memory, which is why the memory is almost always full. But there's hardly any advantage.
Chrome also only takes up 300MB
