I have been taking photos and small videos (mainly SLR) for a long time and now I want to expand my hobby a bit further. I would particularly like to film a project that is currently running. I always used a PC for editing, but it is no longer available. Now I have a MacBook Pro with which I have always edited my photos. But is that enough for the film?
The Mac doesn't have an extra graphics card. Is it so essential that I should buy a new laptop? I actually only need it for school and hold a photo / film… So how important is the graphics card for rendering 1080p videos?
With a strong graphics card it is sometimes much faster. The most important thing is that you don't have too long loading times and excessive stutters while editing.
If the MacBook is not older than 2 years, it should definitely be enough.
That means if I can cope with longer waiting times, is the built-in GK from Apple sufficient (depending on the program)? I'm not in a good financial position at the moment.
Unfortunately it is from 2015, but has so far served its purpose sufficiently…
If you work with Final Cut (which I would recommend for MacOS) you shouldn't have any problems because the Apple software has been perfectly matched to the device.
I had already considered, thanks for the recommendation!
Try it out, the Macs have the free iMovie. Just download it and see if the cutting goes smoothly and how long it takes to render it out.
However, since lame, energy-saving CPUs are also built into such macbooks, I assume the cutting will be rather tough.
