Buy a new laptop and sell an old one?

I got my first new self-bought laptop about 5 months ago. In the beginning everything was good, it ran fast, etc. But after a while (especially after the 4th month) the laptop just started turning the fan on a Chrome tab, or sometimes even just on the desktop 10 minutes after I did switched it on.

Be that as it may, many other buyers have also complained to the manufacturer and the manufacturer does not seem to react (Huawei). Means: The problem has been known for a long time and will not be resolved… The fan is really annoying, it goes on every 1 1/2 minutes and then switches off again for 2 minutes, then remains for 4 minutes with ventilation and then again without, etc…

The laptop (more precisely: Huawei MateBook d14, 512 GB version) cost 700 euro and because of the above problem I want to sell it before it keeps falling in value.

It's currently worth 410 euro, which is of course quite a loss…

I would then buy the new MacBook Air M1 directly as a replacement, which appeals to me particularly because of the new processor, which is supposed to get by without a fan and even runs cooler than my current laptop.

That thing also costs 1139 euro, but to be honest, it's worth it to me if I don't always have to hear that dirty fan.

In addition, I'm a person who gets tired of nerves pretty quickly when something doesn't work, so far I had never had the experience at Apple that I made any kind of mistake…

Do you think it would be worth it?

Lo

If you want to be quiet and want a lot of power, you can't get around a MacBook

dr

I would rather get a Windows computer.

Lo

But then they have a fan again

dr

Yes, but the question is what he would like to do with it.

MacOS is just not that good for some things.

Gr

If you have "grown up" on the Windows track, accordingly have the programs and user knowledge, I would not consider buying a "Mac".

Windows is adequately supported for the "private person" and there's also correspondingly functioning HARDWARE.
I don't see any advantage for me there, because I ran into Windows in terms of programming

Li

Hmm oh man

I probably can't sell the laptop that easily after all…

MAN ey, I did a mega-minus business, just lost at least 300 euro within 5 months… What do you think would be most worthwhile in my position?

Unfortunately, I can't sell the laptop, the reasons don't matter at first…

I'm really desperate right now and really don't feel like using the laptop anymore…

Lo

Then I would try to regulate the fans first

Li

Unfortunately it is not possible, I really tried everything and even brought the CPU speed to 20%, anyway, the fan turns on. Over and over again. I really tried everything, even SpeedFan etc…

Do you think I can sell the thing after 5 months for a starting price of 700 euro for the current 400 euro?

Lo

You can try

Li

Hmm but where, online portals are out of the question, because there are always complaints that the devices are damaged after being sent in order to reduce their value… Is eBay a good option?

Ac

Just give the damn thing back and get a smart Windows laptop from Asus or Acer. It can also be a bit thicker because fast hardware has to be cooled well. Thicker laptops also have better cooling and are therefore also quieter.

Don't hope for one of those stupid fancy laptops that keep overheating and the fan accelerates every three minutes so that the device will last until it is out of warranty

Li

Thank you

- I feel better now, especially when I know that I can't return it because it was bought 5 months ago as described above.

Lo

Yes, you can do ebay

Kr

Well, matebooks are the worst thing you can buy at all! Pretty much EVERYTHING is better, but then you shouldn't use apple of all things.
