I have the following problem: Recently, my JBL Box can be connected to the laptop (Apple), but the phone symbol also lights up, which means that no real sound comes out of the box, but only sounds muffled and quiet. It can also not be turned off, and I have no telephone function on my laptop!
In the past, everything went great with the connection and everything works as before with my cell phone (Apple) but somehow it doesn't work with the laptop.
Maybe someone has a clue or has already experienced something like this? I would appreciate an answer!
Hmm that sounds like your laptop is using the phone function of the box. So you could practically make calls over it if you want. You can also use a laptop (e.g. Via Skype, FaceTime, with an iPhone nearby, etc.). Since you do not want that, test the following:
With the ALT key held down (2 keys to the left of the spacebar on the keyboard), click on the speaker icon in the bar at the top of the screen on the laptop. There comes a menu with output devices and input devices. Check whether the box is connected under input devices. If so, put it back on the internal microphone. Is the phone icon still lit? It should be better now and the playback should be clearer.
P.S. If you don't have a speaker icon in the top bar of the laptop that you can click on, then go to the system settings and open the sound settings by clicking on "Sound". There's the "Input" tab and you can change it.

Hello and thank you for your answer! Unfortunately it didn't work for me. I first switched it to the internal speaker but then no music came out of the box (although it was connected) but was only played from the laptop. Do you have an idea what might work? Or maybe I didn't do it right or something.
