Is that bad when the fan of my laptop gets loud?

I downloaded Minecraft on my MacBook Air a few days ago and after 10 minutes I noticed that the fan is getting quite loud. I've already googled if that's bad and now know that a MacBook Air is not for games like Minecraft, but my question is, is that bad when the fan gets so loud? Does that damage my laptop or can I play Minecraft?

Lighter games like Minecraft are no problem for an older MacBook Air, but of course i.d.R. More powerful than simple surfing.

If the fans are running permanently, check the activity indicator to see if something is going on. That would be e.g. A malicious software like caused by an antivir or similar.
