Apple MacBook without updates?

I'm currently looking for a Christmas present for my girlfriend. You would like a MacBook just for simple office work for school and the like.

I checked and Macbooks before 2013 don't get any new updates. Now the thing is that Macbooks will still cost over 600 euro after 2013.

Now to my question since I'm familiar with Apple Zero. How bad is it that an older MacBook is no longer supplied with updates. Could this laptop still be sufficient for simple activities such as chores and lectures?

It is not bad.

You just have to see that the version is sufficient.

For example, as far as I know, you need at least IOS 9 on the iPhone to be able to install the latest apps. It's no different with the Mac or Macbook.

Okay, everything is fine, but if the programs are on and the new MacOs come, does it still work or will the services be stopped?

Updates are not only used to update apps / programs but also for security.

In all honesty: A Windows laptop that still receives updates does this job. A big difference in price.

In the meantime, you can save money and then buy a "real" MacBook that also has something, that is, can do more, and can be updated.
