Since I need a new notebook for my computer science studies, the idea occurred to me to get the MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020 (cheapest variant, 1300 euro on Amazon).
However, the new Macbooks will apparently appear in November this year, equipped with Apple's own processors (ARM), which are said to be more powerful, with a much longer battery life - and at lower prices (starting at 800 euro).
Now I'm not sure whether I should get a current Macbook or rather wait for the new Macs. I mean, it will take a while before I can even pre-order the new Macs and there have only been leaks so far.
I'm currently working with my PC at home (online lectures etc.) and therefore can't attend lectures on site because I don't have a laptop, especially in the programming lectures.
I would be very grateful for your advice:-)
One can also wait dead.
Which should be more powerful, with a much longer battery life - and at lower prices (starting at 800 euro)
Is it really like that? In particular the price? Source?
https://www.computerbild.de/...rchitektur Here is an example. There are tons of sources on this.
The current MacBooks are pretty rubbish in terms of hardware, especially the cheap models. Would definitely wait there.
The price could even be correct, since Apple could only use Intel processors so far, which makes the Macs more expensive.
Have you had any experience with the current models?
No, I would never buy a Macbook, but I know which ones have one (Pro and Air). That's normal hardware. 8GB RAM, Intel Mobile CPU's. I can tell you without owning it that it is much weaker than other laptops (which are also cheaper).
And the cooling of the Air is absolute horror, if you can speak of cooling. https://www.macworld.co.uk/news/2020-macbook-air-problems-3788127/
So I e.g. Now wait for the new Macbooks as the e currently offered is only heated food with a little more salt.
What is coming now will finally be something spectacular again.
Wait a while, because the price won't be that high when Apple installs its chips.
I wouldn't recommend a MacBook for computer science. At least not if it's your only device.
If you have to develop in some rather exotic language, that couldn't work out. So somehow you will need Windows or a real Linux.

Hopefully Apple will keep what they promise. Otherwise you will definitely be miles behind the competition.
No, it's not my only device. I already have two computers with Windows, one with dual boot with Linux.
And why don't you take a cheap used MacBook if it's only intended as a third-party device anyway? You don't need anything that really has performance.
Yes, let's be surprised, I'm already looking forward to the keynote in November
I'm curious how artificially it will be hyped again when it actually becomes a flop 😂
Yes, like Windows Vista back then 😂
