And I need a laptop for the school. I would actually just make presentations, use Word, watch DVD's and maybe even edit a video. Would the Macbook Pro from 2009 still be good for that? (I can't spend more than 600-700 euro for it)

Wa

I'm using a MacBook Air 13 "2015 and I'm quite happy with it, but it depends on what kind of video you want to work on, the rest of these requirements would also be a normal Windows laptop for 600 euro - 700 euro just fine! I do not think the MBP models from 2009, if there are still updates to the latest versions of macOS, but the 10 years old.To give a more accurate answer to your question, could you please specify the technical data, this Mac has?

Ab

Why do you really want to buy an "old apple" that is 10 years old?

Accus keep not last forever and for the purpose you describe, get for 600 euro a ASUS 17 "i5 256 GB SSD + 1TB HDD with 8GB of memory… Has also another advantage: you have a warranty on the part… Also enough for video editing…

I would not advise you to buy a MacBook pro before 2011. With them you can no longer install or use the current operating system version. So, if already buy, then from 2011!

For your applications, however, an older, somewhat outdated MacBook pro is still good to use. You will not get problems with it.

Word from Microsoft comes in a Windows and Apple or Mac version. But you would have to spend extra money. On the Mac, however, enough programs should have already been pre-installed, so that you would not have to buy anything "even more", not even Word or other programs for creating presentations or DVD viewing.

With such an "old apple" the operation is simply simpler than with Windows. You work on the Windows (install new drivers, beware of malware), on a Mac you work with him and need to worry about drivers and malicious software.

Er

Here, as I said, the problem with the compatibility of Apple standard programs and the Windows programs of school computers. And who likes to sit for hours at his presentation so as not to be able to open it…
